1.1 Provider Profile
Scoil Mhuire Community School Clane is an Irish co-educational post-primary school with 1,200 pupils and a staff of eighty teachers. It is directed by the Department of Education and Skills on behalf of the Irish Government.
Scoil Mhuire began offering Adult Education classes in September 1983. The numbers have grown to approximately 2,000 learners per term doing a range of pastime and certified courses. These include courses run in conjunction with Maynooth University, ITEC (the International Therapist Examination Council), and ICDL Ireland. In addition, we are also a provider of QQI programmes with up to 350 Certifications per year including full awards and individual modules.

1.2 Scoil Mhuire Adult Education Mission Statement
Scoil Mhuire Adult Education’s key objective is to meet the needs of ongoing education in our community while contributing towards the spiritual, moral, mental and physical well-being and development of the community.
We also promote community-based learning in a caring, disciplined and inclusive environment.
Our courses facilitate learning that is skill-based and knowledge-based and which benefit the Community in general and enable individuals to contribute to the Community in a more positive and enlightened way.
All teaching and learning is in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of Scoil Mhuire while meeting the requirements of our awarding bodies including QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland).
To help all learners achieve their potential, Scoil Mhuire Adult Education:
- Provides a supportive learning environment responsive to the needs of learners to enable them to enhance their knowledge and skills and reach their full potential.
- Has a flexible learning model which is accessible and caters for learners from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Promotes a sense of autonomy in the learner, while providing guidance and support for the learner.
- Encourages the use of a wide range of different pedagogical methods which are continually monitored, reviewed, and adjusted accordingly.
- Invites learners to take part in programme reviews and other ongoing initiatives for improving the learning experience.

1.3 Ethos that promotes learning
Policy
To help all learners achieve their potential Scoil Mhuire Adult Education:
- Provides a supportive learning environment which is responsive to the needs of learners to enable them to enhance their knowledge and skills so that they can reach their full potential. See section 7 of the QA Manual for additional information on Support for Learners.
- Has a flexible learning model which is accessible to all and caters for learners from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Promotes a sense of autonomy in the learner, while encouraging adequate guidance and support for the learner.
- Encourages the use of a wide range of different pedagogical methods which are monitored on a continual basis and adjusted accordingly.
- Invites learners to take part in programme reviews and other ongoing initiatives for improving the learning experience, for example through learner survey feedback.
- Has procedures in place for dealing with learner complaints.
- Has procedures in place to deal with learner appeals.
- Uses technology to support and enhance the learning experience for learners.
- Promotes mutual respect between learners and tutors.
