7.1. Support For Learners

Policy

To comply with QQI’s 2016 Core Statutory Quality Assurance Guidelines we are required to provide supports for learners that are fit for purpose and accessible. Furthermore, we must inform learners about the range of services available to them and survey them on their impressions of learning resources and supports such as library, information, and computing, as well as academic and non-academic supports. We regularly review these supports for adequacy and effectiveness. We have mechanisms through which general matters of concern are raised.

Furthermore, learners have access to support through the Learner App which also includes a large number of resource materials relevant to their particular course of study.

All learning resources and learner supports are designed to meet the needs of the programme and the learner profile and are monitored and reviewed on an ongoing basis. Learner supports can and do change in response to learner feedback, changes in programmes under offer and/or changes to programme assessment, programme evaluation and programme review.

We are committed to equality of access and attainment among learners and proactively seeks to promote equality and facilitate diversity. We recognise the diversity of identities and experiences and treat each person with honesty, dignity, fairness, accountability, and integrity.

We aim to provide training which is accessible to all learners including those individuals with additional or diverse needs and other non-standard applicants insofar as this is possible and practicable. We have a Diversity and Equality Policy which clearly sets out our commitment to facilitating diversity and difference.

7.2 Support For Learners - Procedures

Scoil Mhuire and second providers offer supports to learners which may enable them to successfully complete our QQI courses.

Staff Involved

Board of Management, Quality Committee, Director of Adult Education, Directors of Adult Education in second providers, QQI Administration Officer, Quality Officer, Admin Staff, Tutors, Programmes Officer.
