Assessment Briefs should contain instructions on the activity or task which enables the learner to produce evidence for assessment. The assessment instrument is based on the assessment technique for the award. The Module Descriptor details exactly the techniques to be used to assess the learning outcomes.  You should  ensure that the portfolios of evidence contain exactly what is specified by the Module Descriptor.   Your Assessment Brief should provide clear instructions on the task and allow the learners to produce enough visible evidence to show they have achieved the learning outcomes.

These word limits are a guide only for written assessments such as essays, reports, projects and so on and do not refer to skills demonstrations. The tutor needs to consider the volume of work allocated to each candidate reflects these suggested word counts at each QQI level. The word count should be evident in the brief.
